Everything Really Is Awesome! Tony-Winning Musical Pippin Gets the LEGO Treatment

Hot Shot 05/21/14

Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Pippin has never been hotter and neither have LEGO toys, so it only makes sense that they would look "extraordinary" together! Patrons headed to Segerstrom Center for the Arts through August 31 will be amazed by an exhibit of Broadway-inspired LEGO art created by members of LUGOLA (LEGO Users Group of Los Angeles), led by Paul Lee. Each sculpture is themed to a Broadway show in the Center’s 2014-2015 season, including Diane Paulus' Tony Award-winning revival of Pippin.

With a beloved score by Tony nominee Schwartz, Pippin tells the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk everything for a singular flash of glory. Tony winner Paulus' magical circus-themed production features sizzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse and breathtaking acrobatics by Les 7 Doigts de la Main, the creative force behind the nationwide sensation Traces.

As previously announcedPippin is taking their acrobatic extravaganza on the road! The production will launch a U.S. national tour beginning September 2014 at the Buell Theatre in Denver, CO. The musical centers around a troupe of players who tell the story of Pippin, and includes the beloved songs “Magic to Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” “No Time at All” and “Morning Glow.”
